We have collected a ton of stuff for the bathroom & have it all stored in the basement for now.
Except the vanity top, which came earlier today.
Craig is still figuring things out with the window…he’s planning to pick up most of the supplies & the actual window from our local home improvement store on the day of, but aluminum siding to patch the hole has been harder to find.
Craig said he found someone who still carries it in Hanover, PA, so he has to coordinate with his dad to go pick it up since we need to borrow his truck.
Will we still tackle the window this weekend? I have no idea, but I sure hope so!
As excited as I am to get started, I don’t know if I’m so excited to shower in our basement bathroom for the foreseeable future…Craig said we could put up plastic until we can install the new tile, but I don’t want to risk water damage when we have another (safer) option available to us.
I’m still planning to give Landon his baths in there until we absolutely can’t use the tub anymore. He hates taking showers & the kitchen sink is out because toddler + control of the water sprayer = giant mess/soaked mommy. Maybe if I get really desperate, I will take him to my parent’s house for bath time!
I’m nervous to finally get started because I know how long it took us to finish the kitchen, & I’d like to be able to use our upstairs bathroom again before the end of the year! On the up side, I’m not pregnant this time, so I will be allowed to help!
For funzies I have a few pictures of some of the things we chose so far:
This is the floor tile. I wanted something darker, but this is what Craig liked, so I gave up on fighting for a darker grey so that I could be the one to decide on the faucets & hand towel ring. Plus it’s kind of growing on me!
The shower is going to have white subway tiles all the way up to the ceiling, but we are going to put a stripe of this glass tile somewhere on the wall to make us feel fancy. I think the plan right now is that we will cut the sheets of tile in half & that will be as tall as the stripe will be. We’ve toyed around with the idea of 2 stripes, but we agreed that would be too much.
This is the picture on the side of our vanity box. We were going to do all white in the bathroom, but decided that it might be fun to break up all the white with a darker finish vanity. Fingers crossed that everything ends up looking really good together!
What do you guys think? Do you agree with Craig that plastic in the shower over the untiled wall is fine? Do you think I should give toddler sink baths a shot? Do you like what we’ve picked out so far?
